In this tutorial I will show you to upload videos on YouTube.
A vast majority of YouTube visitors come to watch rather than broadcast themselves, but it is the active minority who contribute and share their video output who make the largest Internet video service tick. Depending on the size of your video and the speed of your connection, it is something between a minute and half an hour that separates you from joining their ranks.
Predictably, you have to sign up to create an account with the service. If you are a business, this is your first opportunity to underline it by choosing a matching username and submitting a relevant description.
From there, being a member, you can basically set out to upload videos by clicking a dedicated upload button to the right of the search box. It takes you to a video file upload page. Importantly, the current limit on files for standard accounts is up to 2GB in size and up to 15 minutes in length, with practically no restrictions on formats. YouTube operates under strict terms of use that discourage people from uploading music, adverts or films they have no permission to distribute. Copyright and authorization issues are taken much more seriously now than in the early days of the service.
After hitting upload video, you will be asked to locate the file on your computer and open it. Upload will start immediately, with the progress bar showing percentage of work done until the whole process is completed.
The system will inform you what address the video is going to be available at once it is live. To make it easier for YouTube and search engines to classify it, it is a good idea to spend some time giving your video an interesting and relevant title, filling in the description section with key information and selecting good tags and a category. This will associate your video with related contributions and increase its attractiveness. In this step, YouTube also asks to choose privacy settings that differ for public, unlisted and private videos. If you think of sharing this video on other websites, there are both a URL and an embed code you can copy and paste.
Click save changes and the job is done. You, your employees and your customers can enjoy this video, share it, comment or embed in other sites.
